Advice

Repairing that injury or easing that muscle tightness is a partnership between us, effectively an agreement and in addition to the direct work you do with me it is essential that you take measures to build on that between treatments and long term to stay pain free. We will discuss practical ways that you can build on the treatment and I will advise on how you can exercise and improve your range of motion. Sports Injury

Specific sports injuries can be identified and treated effectively including rehabilitation advice. It is vital that when a muscle or ligament is torn causing internal damage that early treatment is applied so that the repairing fibres can be realigned to allow greater likelihood of a return to full function. This aligned to an effectively managed rehabilitation process can support a return to full activities.

General Maintenance and Bespoke Programmes

Think of your body as a working machine each part interrelated to other parts of your body. Like any machine it benefits from regular maintenance to make sure that all those pathways which your body uses to allow the movement of nerve impulses, blood supply, lymphatic drainage are free from restrictions. With a program of regular maintenance areas of restriction can be identified and the muscles or joints released allowing you to perform to your maximum whether in sporting activities or just managing the daily tasks.

I have worked with athletes who have trained for and successfully completed events such as marathons and ironman challenges where I have partnered with them to provide ongoing treatment which has supported their bodies being pushed during increased training, which in turn can put additional strain and therefore a greater risk of injury.

Joint Mobilisation

It is not only our muscles that become sore and stiff but many of the aches and pains we all feel in our daily life originate from and are felt in the joints. These joints can become stiff and lack mobility which will lead to greater strain been placed on muscles, tendons and ligaments. Joint mobilistaion through gentle articulation is an excellent way of freeing those joints allowing them to move in the way they should which will allow the tensions in supporting muscles to ease.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is different to the more recognised relaxation massage; it is intended to stimulate the deeper aspects of the muscular tissues and activate the nervous system in order to release the tension held in that muscle. Equally it increases the movement of essential fluids through the muscle bringing additional nutrition to the deeper aspects. It is beneficial for all aspects of our lives whether you are engaged in sporting activity or just for the daily routine. It can be adapted to enhance pre-event preparation & warm-up, to offer assistance during an event & to aid recovery post-event.

Injury Rehabilitation

Many of us have accidents that can cause strains and tears to the muscles, tendons and ligaments which will often repair themselves over time. The benefit of rehabilitation treatment is that together we can improve the quality of that repair by supporting the natural processes taking place in your body.

The cause of the injury may be sudden, such as muscle strain or tear caused whilst doing physical activity.  It can also be something that builds up over time such as neck and shoulder problems caused by those long hours at the computer. Relief and recovery from these pains can be gained by massage therapy which will help to relax and repair the tight or damaged muscles.
